At least 15 area companies with immediate openings to be filled are expected to participate in a job fair at the Tennessee Career Center next Thursday. The event sponsored by the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce and Workforce Essentials will be noon-5 pm Thursday at the career center at 250 Beasley Drive. “We have a range of employers who have positions to fill immediately, from entry level to professional,” said Peter Toth, veterans employment representative at the Tennessee Career Center. “These are top local companies spanning a number of sectors, we’re excited to have dozens of openings to offer to people in the area.” Dickson County Chamber of Commerce President David Hamilton said the county is feeling the momentum across a number of key indicators as a sign of continued improving economic conditions, including real estate activity and sales tax collections. “When we have this many companies ready to hire, that’s a great sign for Dickson County’s future. We’re seeing a lot of positive momentum,” Hamilton said. Interested job candidates should bring copies of their resumes and other pertinent information such as letters of reference and be prepared for possible interviews at next week’s fair. Dickson County’s March unemployment rate was reported at 7.2 percent, a decrease from the previous month of half a point.
