Demontez Coleman struck like lightning with two long touchdown runs as Dickson Middle School topped county rival Charlotte 12-0 in a game that was cut short by nature’s lightning Friday night. Coleman rushed for 159 yards and scores of 31 and 90 yards as the Dragons opened the 2013 season with the win over the Tigers. Coleman’s first strike came on Dickson’s opening possession of the game and covered 31 yards for a 6-0 lead after the two-point conversion failed. Charlotte looked to battle back in its first drive but a fumble recovered by Christian Huff killed the effort. After a brief lightning delay, the game resumed and with under two minutes remaining in the first half, Coleman struck again with a 90-yard streak. Late in the third quarter, the game was again delayed by lightning and after waiting more than 30 minutes, the referees called off the contest with Dickson taking the 12-0 season-opening win. The Dragons will host E.O. Coffman Middle School from Lawrenceburg Thursday while Charlotte’s home-opener is against Waverly. Both games kick off at 6:30 pm.
