4th annual Gospel Explosion benefits Promise Land Saturday at First Baptist Church

The Promise Land Community Club is holding its fourth annual Gospel Explosion Saturday night to raise funds for its continuing historic preservation mission. The free concert featuring a variety of local choirs is at 6 pm Saturday at First Baptist Church on Highway 70 East in Dickson. Tax-deductible donations will be accepted during the performance. Under the theme “Unity in Spirit, Strength and Service,” the concert features interdenominational choirs from across the county. The schedule of performances includes Voices of Triumph, The Union Choir, First Baptist Church choir, St. James AME Church choir, a combined choir from Dickson First United Methodist and Charlotte Fagan United Methodist churches, Bowman Chapel United Methodist Church choir and Mt. Olive Baptist Church choir with special guest songwriter and recording artist Rev. Pamela Crawford, pastor at Promise Land Church. In addition to the choral performances, Charlotte native and actor Bill Oakley will present a special performance featuring his character Reverend Spike. All funds raised by Saturday night’s concert will help with paying a loan the Promise Land Community Club took out to continue the development of the historic site north of Charlotte and to establish its new community center.
