4th of July celebrations scheduled in Cumberland Furnace, White Bluff, Charlotte and VFW Post 4641

Local Fourth of July celebrations are planned in Cumberland Furnace, White Bluff, Charlotte and at the VFW Post in Dickson. The Cumberland Furnace Community Center will be holding its annual celebration beginning at 4 pm Friday with games, live music, concessions, arts and crafts, Uncle Sam and fireworks at dark. In addition, The Furnace Guild will be hosting a reception to honor 99-year-old former Cumberland Furnace resident Mary Lillian Daniel Weakley at the Old Company Store and Office starting at 4 pm. White Bluff is bringing back its Independence Day celebration starting at 4 pm Friday at the Field of Dreams playground and White Bluff Community Center. There will be games, activities, entertainment, a raffle and concessions with fireworks at 9 pm. Sensing Brothers VFW Post 4641 at 215 Marshall Stuart Drive will be holding an open house for the Fourth of July. Registration for a horseshoe tournament starts at 1 pm with a $5 entry fee and competition beginning at 2:00. The afternoon will include inflatable fun, a dunking booth, games and activities for children, concessions courtesy of the VFW Auxiliary, entertainment with Michelle Langdon and Liz at 6 pm and fireworks at dusk. The Charlotte Little League will present a fireworks display at dark at the ballfields on Highway 48, co-sponsored by the town of Charlotte.
