Alcohol might have been factor in Saturday wreck that kills one, injures woman

Alcohol might have been a contributing factor in a Saturday evening wreck that left one man dead and a woman injured. Dickson police say evidence of alcohol consumption was found in a vehicle that crossed the center line on Highway 70 near Luther Lake and struck another vehicle head-on. Police say 69-year-old Lono Mayo of Perry County was westbound on Highway 70 when his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Amy Christine Jenkins of Dickson County shortly after 6 pm Saturday. Mayo was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and police said there was alcohol present in his vehicle. Jenkins was taken to Horizon Medical Center where she was treated and released suffering from a broken wrist and possible ankle injury, according to a posting on her Facebook page. The accident and investigation closed Highway 70 for almost an hour. Police have requested blood alcohol tests on Mayo to determine whether alcohol might have been a factor in the accident.
