A Charlotte woman was killed and two men injured in a Saturday morning wreck in Cheatham County. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports 21-year-old Terrisa J. Mayfield of Charlotte died when the car in which she was a passenger struck a tree around 3 am Saturday. According to the report by Trooper Jason Clark, Mayfield was a passenger in a 1996 Honda Civic being driven by 25-year-old Joshua S. Jarrett of Charlotte westbound on Highway 49 early Saturday morning when the vehicle left the highway near the intersection with Highway 250, went into a skid and struck two mailboxes and a tree. Mayfield was dead at the scene while Jarrett and another passenger, 21-year-old Joseph E. Hawks of Charlotte, were injured. The report says all three vehicle occupants were wearing their seatbelts but there also was evidence they had been drinking prior to the wreck. Blood tests were requested and according to Clark’s report citations and criminal charges are pending. The report does not indicate the severity of Jarrett and Hawks’ injuries.
