The application period for the Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program begins Saturday and runs through June 7. All applications for the reimbursement grants must be filed during that period either online, by mail postmarked June 1-7 or in person at the Tennessee Department of Agriculture in Nashville June 3-7. In Dickson County last year, 46 projects were approved for ag enhancement grants totaling $159,000. Applications are available at the local Extension Office, farm retail outlets, farm service agencies, the Farm Bureau or online at tn.gov/taep. Applications will be reviewed on a producer priority ranking system. Local producers can apply for three cost share programs that include reimbursement grants for the purchase of livestock equipment, genetics testing, feed storage, hay storage, grain storage and other equipment. Added to the approved list of grants this year are pasture sprayers, covered mineral feeders and several items for dairy operations. Grants are not available for items purchased prior to June 1. For more information or assistance with the application, contact Vickie Witcher at the UT Extension at 446-2788.
