The Renaissance Players are holding auditions Saturday for the Young Entertainers on Stage production of Seussical, Jr. The YES program auditions are open to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade and will be 2-5 pm Saturday in the Anne Deason Performance Hall with registration beginning at 1:45. There are singing and non-singing roles available. The YES program is designed to give students the full theatre experience regardless of previous acting experience by working with the professional theatre arts staff of The Renaissance Center. Nathan Brown is director and musical director for the production while Bryan Wlas is choreographer, Hannah McGinley is vocal captain and Michelle Valenti is dance captain. Seussical, Jr. is a fanciful musical based on the characters of Dr. Seuss and tells the story of Horton the Elephant’s efforts to save the tiny Who universe located on a speck of dust, which only his giant ears can hear. Rehearsals in the YES program are held weekday afternoons at The Renaissance Center for the convenience of school children and parents. Performances will be 7 pm March 8, 1 and 7 pm March 9 and 2 pm March 10. For more information on the YES series production of Seussical, Jr. and auditions, visit rcenter.org or call 740-5550.
