After getting through pool play with a 2-1 record, Creek Wood High School’s softball team saw its trip to the Play It Again Sports Softball Tournament end in a tie-breaker in the first game of the single elimination bracket Saturday. The Lady Red Hawks opened pool play in the 60-team tournament in Clarksville with a 4-0 win over Hixson Friday followed by a 3-2 victory over East Jessamine, Kentucky. In Saturday’s final pool game, the Lady Red Hawks narrowly fell to St. Benedict of Cordova 4-3. After the teams were divided into three divisions for the elimination brackets, Creek Wood went up against Beech. After the game ended regulation scoreless, the teams went to the international tie breaker, which puts a runner at second base to start each extra inning. The Lady Buccaneers managed to get a run across for the 1-0 victory, eliminating Creek Wood. Dickson County soccer picked up a trio of wins in tournament action over the weekend. The Cougars beat Smyrna 2-0, Arlington 6-2 and Summit 5-1. In action today, Creek Wood softball hosts Stewart County at 5:00; Dickson County baseball hosts Kenwood at 6:30; Creek Wood soccer hosts Cheatham County at 6:30 and the Dickson County Softball Game of the Week has the Lady Cougars hosting Kenwood at 5:30 on the RFC Sports Network.
