The 2nd annual Dickson Farm, Home and Garden Show is March 7-9 at the Dickson County Fairgrounds with more than 50 vendors and over a dozen seminars presented by the University of Tennessee Extension. Sponsored by the Agriculture Committee of the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce, the farm, home and garden show will be open 1-6 pm Friday, March 7, 9 am-6 pm Saturday, March 8, and 12-4 pm Sunday, March 9. Tickets are $2 each day with children 12 and under free and parking is free. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, the show has filled the Chandler and Greer buildings and outdoor pavilion as well as several outdoor booths with vendors representing the show’s theme of “Everything Outdoors.” The show has expanded into the W.A. Crosby Center at the fairgrounds where the Creating SolUTions for Life seminars will be presented by UT Extension at the top of each hour all three days. UT Extension experts from across the state are bringing helpful information to the show on topics ranging from identifying native trees to controlling common plant pests, from pond management to protecting your home from fire ants and much more. Trevor Qualls of Bon Aqua Springs Apiaries and Woodenware will present a beginning beekeeping seminar twice during the weekend: at 10 am Saturday and 3 pm Sunday. One of the more popular subjects at last year’s show, beekeeping is seeing a resurgence in the area and Qualls will take a beginning beekeeper through the various equipment needed and show how to use different types of equipment more naturally. Qualls is a member of the Nashville Area, Columbia Area and Three Rivers Area beekeepers associations and lectures throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois, Florida and Alabama on beekeeping techniques and is committed to chemical-free beekeeping and designing and building woodenware. Because of the growing popularity of beekeeping, How to Keep Bees Naturally is the only seminar being presented twice in the three-day event. The seminars are included in the show admission.
