Big 2nd-quarter run gives Lady Dragons cushion for win over Oakland, Dragons fall

A big 19-1 second-quarter run gave the Dickson Middle Lady Dragons all the cushion they needed to improve to 3-0 with a 49-23 win at Oakland Tuesday night. Emily Beard led the scoring for Dickson with 18 points while Samantha Bullington’s 11 points and leadership on the floor earned the Victory Nissan MVP. However, Dickson’s Dragons could not make it a sweep as they lost for the first time since the playoffs in the 2010-11 season. Oakland’s Chargers led only by six after three quarters but put together an 18-1 final stanza to top the Dragons 52-29. Trey Wiedmann earned MVP honors after leading Dickson with 13 points. Dickson Middle gets little time to recover as it plays its fourth contest in 10 days Thursday on the road at Kenwood.
