A Burns man was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center Tuesday after being ejected when his pickup overturned. According to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 36-year-old David Thompson of Burns was injured when his 1998 Ford Ranger ran off Steele Road and rolled over. The report says Thompson was westbound on Steele Road around 6:30 pm Tuesday and “was traveling too fast while attempting to negotiate a curve.” The report says the truck ran off the road and down an embankment before overturning. Thompson, who was not wearing a seat belt according to the report, was ejected from the truck. He was flown by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt. Information on his condition and the nature of his injuries was not immediately available.
