The third annual CAKE for the Clinic event to benefit the Dickson Community Clinic will be held Saturday. The free event is 2-4 pm at the Tennsco Community Center and features a cake buffet, live entertainment, health screenings and information. The program is a fund-raiser for the community clinic, which is a faith-based provider of basic healthcare services to low-income and uninsured residents. CAKE, which stands for Caring and Kindness Event, will feature a selection of cakes prepared by members of the Family and Community Education Clubs in Dickson County. An afternoon of gospel music includes performances by New Vessels of the Spirit, Daughters of the Kingdom, Witness and Promise Land Church pastor and recording artist Pamela Crawford. Entertainer and Minnie Pearl impersonator Cindy Moore will serve as hostess and mistress of ceremonies. There also will be vendor booths with a variety of products and services as well as health information. Presented by the Dickson County Health Council, CAKE for the Clinic is specifically raising funds for diagnostic and treatment services for cancer patients at the community clinic. Founded in 2006, the Dickson Community Clinic began as a faith-based service offered in a local church before moving into donated space at Horizon Medical Center.
