Charlotte Middle teams advance to finals of MTAC tourney in White Bluff

Dickson Middle School’s Lady Dragons are left as the county’s lone undefeated team after improving to 14-0 by beating Richview 44-28 Monday night. Dickson got off to a slow start in the opening frame but outscored the Lady Cowboys 22-8 in the second period to establish a lead it would hold until the end. Emily Beard led the charge with 26 points. Dickson’s Dragons dropped their second decision to Richview 51-39. Trey Wiedmann led Dickson with 14 points as the Dragons fall to 6-8. Creek Wood’s Lady Red Hawks bounced back from their first loss of the season by crushing Fairview 52-22 Monday night while the Yellow Jackets earned a split by beating Creek Wood’s boys 69-57. Charlotte Middle School’s Tigers and Lady Tigers advanced to the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament title games with semifinal victories Monday. The Tigers topped Fairview 47-26 while the Lady Tigers beat East Hickman 19-13. The Lady Tigers will play Fairview for the title Thursday night after the Lady Falcons knocked off William James 19-15. Charlotte’s Tigers battle Waverly’s Tigers for the boys’ crown. The tournament concludes Thursday in White Bluff. Dickson Middle’s Lady Dragons will play in the Chargers Christmas Invitational at Oakland Middle School, opening against the host Lady Chargers Wednesday at 7 pm. Dickson already beat Oakland by 26 points in a meeting last month. The tournament continues Thursday and Friday.
