UT Extension-Dickson County Director Janet Cluck will present a Keep Your Balance holiday cooking school Tuesday evening at Horizon Medical Center. The free program will be at 6 pm in the East Pavilion third-floor conference room of the hospital. “The period between Thanksgiving and New Years can leave consumers out of balance when it comes to diet and finances,” Cluck said. “Conscious planning for healthy eating, wise spending and realistic time management is the key to staying in control throughout the upcoming season.” Keep Your Balance for the Best and Brightest Holidays will include suggestions for a lighter holiday menu along with practical tips for managing two of our most precious resources – time and money. Those attending will receive a holiday planner with recipes and suggestions for reducing stress and healthy cooking techniques and nutrition guidelines that can help reduce the risk for chronic disease including certain types of cancer. Door prizes and tasting selected recipes featured in live demonstrations will be included. The Keep Your Balance program is funded through a TEAM UP TN grant from the state Department of Health, along with UT Extension and Horizon Medical Center. Anyone planning on attending should call TriStar Medline at 342-1919 or the UT Extension-Dickson County office at 446-2788. The program is also being offered in neighboring counties and for information contact those extension offices.
