Cougars and Lady Cougars open tournament action today 450 miles apart

Dickson County High School’s basketball teams are both playing today, but 450 miles apart. The Lady Cougars and Cougars play in the opening games of two different tournaments. Coach Eve Hamilton and her Lady Cougars play the Lady Lions of Christ Presbyterian Academy at 10 am in the first game of the Hickman County Above The Rim Christmas Invitational at Hickman County High School in Centerville. The winner advances to face the survivor of Waverly and Jackson County at 4 pm Friday while the losers play at 10 am tomorrow in the consolation bracket. The tournament concludes Saturday. Other girls’ teams in the tournament are Ensworth, Union City, Harding Academy and the host Lady Bulldogs. Meanwhile, 463 miles away in Florida, Coach Kevin Tuck and his Cougars take on Hewitt-Trussville of Alabama at 3 pm today in the first game of the Bay Barnstorm Christmas Tournament at Bay High School in Panama City. The winner faces the survivor of Fairdale, Kentucky, and North Florida Educational Institute at 6 pm Friday while the losers play at 3 pm tomorrow. Other teams in the tournament are Enterprise, Alabama, Franklin, Tennessee, St. Luke’s Episcopal of Alabama and the host Bay Tornadoes. The Cougars finished as runner up last year, losing to Ooltewah in the finale. The tournament concludes Saturday.
