Cougars face Mt. Juliet in playoffs tonight, DCHS to hold pep rally, bonfire at 6

Dickson County High School hosts the Mt. Juliet Golden Bears in tonight’s second round of the TSSAA football playoffs. Kickoff is 7 pm in Dickson County Stadium and tickets are $8. Mt. Juliet crushed Independence 52-22 last week after finishing the regular season 9-1 and in second place in District 9-AAA. The Cougars rolled over McGavock 42-14 in the first round after winning District 10-AAA with a 9-1 record. Mt. Juliet’s only loss of the season was 27-20 to Beech, the top-ranked team and 2009 state champion in Class 5A. Dickson County’s only loss was 21-7 to Henry County, the defending Class 5A champion. For the first time in DCHS history, the school will host an evening pep rally and bonfire at 6 pm. Tickets for students passing through the home side gate will be half price 5-5:45. Tonight’s winner advances to the quarterfinals to meet the survivor of Brentwood and Overton next week.
