Holiday tournaments were not kind to Dickson County High School. The Cougars finished seventh in the Bay Barnstorm Invitational in Florida while the Lady Cougars wound up sixth in the Above the Rim Invitational in Hickman County. After losing senior leading scorer JeQuan Lewis for the tournament with a bruised hip suffered in the opening game, the Cougars fell to Kentucky’s Fairdale Friday 58-44 before bouncing back to beat St. Luke’s Episcopal from Alabama 42-29 on Saturday to take seventh in the eight-team field. Caleb Tuck led the Cougars with 25 points in the finale after he and Tyler Spicer each scored 16 in the loss to Fairdale. After opening with a loss to defending 2A state champion CPA, the Lady Cougars routed Waverly 43-29 Friday before losing to Union City 48-36 in the battle for fifth place Saturday. Carlee Wilson led Dickson County with nine points while Lea Lea Carter and Payton Grove added eight each. Dickson County returns to district action Friday hosting Northwest in a 6 pm doubleheader. The Cougars are currently tied with Kenwood and Northeast for first place in District 10 with 5-1 records while the Lady Cougars at 5-1 are a game behind unbeaten Rossview. Creek Wood High School swept Nashville Christian Friday in a rescheduled doubleheader. Michael Morgan’s 25 points led the Red Hawks to a 75-62 victory. Rachel Bell scored 28 as the Lady Red Hawks won 57-45. Creek Wood’s first action of the new year comes Tuesday with a visit from Cheatham County.
