Preseason high school football action continues this week as Dickson County High School has two scrimmages scheduled and Creek Wood High School has one. After getting off to a rough start in the opening scrimmage against Lawrence County Friday, the Red Hawk defense rebounded to take control after giving up a couple of scores. Coach Chuck Daniel’s squad goes on the road Friday to take on Harpeth, a former District 11-AA rival. Dickson County’s Cougars got their first test at McGavock Friday and turn right around for the long trip to Henry County tomorrow. While the Cougars and Patriots are no longer district rivals, they will line up against each other for a 6:30 pm Tuesday scrimmage in Paris. Dickson County then travels to defending Class 5A state champion Beech for a 6 pm scrimmage on Friday. The regular season kicks off Aug. 23 with Dickson County at Creek Wood for the fifth meeting between the in-county rivals. The Cougars have won the first four contests.
