The Courthouse Quilters of White Bluff will be celebrating the quilts of Bernice Stokes and the release of her new book with a special show Friday and during the White Bluff Main Street Festival on Saturday. The free display of Stokes’ quilts will be 10 am-5 pm Friday and 10 am-3 pm Saturday at the White Bluff Church of Christ. The event will include a bed-turning at 1 pm both days and Stokes will hold a book signing at 10 am Friday. A retired postmistress with the White Bluff Post Office and former White Bluff Town Council member, Stokes has teamed with Kay Papenfuss to author “Celebrating 80 Years: The Quilts of Bernice Leota Allen Stokes.” The Courthouse Quilters will officially debut the book at the show Friday and is available for $32. The White Bluff Main Street Festival starts at noon Saturday with two stages of entertainment, carnival rides, food and craft booths, classic car cruise-in, Civil War encampment and the West Tennessee finals of the Texaco Country Showdown at 2 pm.
