For the second game in a row, Creek Wood’s baseball team had to go beyond regulation. After topping CPA 11-10 Friday in an eight-inning runfest, the Red Hawks came up with the run in the seventh to extend the game Monday against Camden before the Lions prevailed 3-2 in eight. Camden took the early lead when the Lions scored a run in the first on a wild pitch. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh, the Red Hawks got runners on the corners when a Camden pickoff attempt was off the mark and allowed Jamey Williams to score the tying run. Camden would score two runs in the top of the eighth, but Creek Wood battled back to load the bases with no outs. Following a strikeout, Corey Wood drew a walk to force a run in and cut the margin to one. But the Lions got another strikeout and a close call on a force out to end the threat and take the District 11 victory 3-2. Dickson County’s Cougars picked up a District 10 win over Henry County 3-0. Lady Cougar softball dropped a 1-0 non-district decision to Columbia and Creek Wood soccer crushed Nashville Christian 12-2. District 10 team tennis tournament got under way Monday with the Dickson County Cougars topping Kenwood 4-3 and the Lady Cougars beating Springfield 4-3. In today’s action, Creek Wood’s Red Hawks get another shot at Camden at 7:00, Lady Cougar softball is at Franklin for a 5:30 match against a future district opponent, Creek Wood softball faces Harpeth in a rescheduled game, Dickson County soccer travels to Northwest and Creek Wood soccer hosts Hickman County, both matches at 6:00. The Cougar baseball game against Ensworth has been canceled.
