Creek Wood’s Tyler Turpin qualified for the region golf tournament after shooting a 79 in the District 11-A/AA Tournament at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson Monday. While the Red Hawks finished out of the top three as a team, Turpin’s round was good enough to advance as an individual to the Region 6-A/AA Tournament set for next week at Montgomery Bell State Park. Hickman County took the boys’ district title with a team total of 320, 10 strokes ahead of Columbia Academy while Montgomery Central’s Indians finished third at 336. The Red Hawks carded a 368 with Turpin’s 79, a 91 by Jamey Williams, 98 by Brien Lunn and Luke Daniel shot 100. The top three teams and top three individuals not on those teams advance to the region tournament. Columbia Academy’s Lake Lomax took the boys’ individual medal with a round of 72. The Region 6-A/AA Tournament begins Monday at Montgomery Bell’s Frank G. Clement Golf Course. Dickson County heads to the District 11-AAA Tournament Monday at The Grove in Thompson Station.
