The 54th annual Dickson County Cancer Crusade kicked off Friday with a headstart of over $1,400 raised at the Celebrity Baggers event at the Kroger store. Local business leaders and elected officials bagged groceries throughout the day and solicited tips to go to the Dickson County Unit of the American Cancer Society’s annual crusade. Dickson Police Department Crime Prevention Officer David Cole again proved to be king of the baggers as he brought in more than $500 in tips, almost 36 percent of the total dollars raised Friday. The Celebrity Baggers kicked off the annual crusade, which continues at 2:00 Monday through Saturday this month with the daily radio auctions live on WDKN and wdkn.com from the basement of the War Memorial Building. The list of items for each day’s auction can be viewed at wdkn.com and on WDKN’s Facebook page. The number to call for bidding is 441-1216.
