The Dickson County High School Choral Department will present its spring concerts tonight and Friday and will begin raising funds for next year’s trip to Carnegie Hall. The Women’s Chorus and Women’s Ensemble will perform at 7 pm Thursday in the Frances Connelly Auditorium. The Chamber Singers, Beautyshop Revue, Barbershop Revue and Concert Choir will perform Friday at 7:00. Tickets for each night are $5 and are available at the door. At Friday night’s concert, the choral department will be holding a bake sale and silent auction to raise money for February’s trip to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall. The silent auction begins accepting bids at 6 pm and will close at intermission of the concert. The money raised Friday as well as at future fund-raisers will be used to offset the $2,000-per-student cost of the trip scheduled for Feb. 14-17. The DCHS Choir was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall by Dr. Gerald Gray, a 1984 DCHS graduate who is now director of choral activities at the State University of New York-Fredonia. Choral Director Cindy Freeman said Gray was asked to conduct a choral performance at Carnegie Hall and insisted his alma mater’s choir be invited to be a part of the program.
