Dickson County High School graduate Luke Humphreys has committed to play baseball at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. Eagles coach Mike McGuire says he really likes the athleticism of Humphreys, who was a three-sport star for the Cougars. “Luke is an athletic, right-handed pitcher and infielder. He is a good competitor who goes right after hitters and also plays a very good middle infield,” McGuire says in an announcement of the signing. Humphreys had a 2.24 ERA and .348 batting average for his senior season at DCHS, accumulating 90 strikeouts in 56 innings pitched. On April 22, Humphreys pitched a no-hitter for a 5-0 win over West Creek. Humphreys also played quarterback for the Cougar football team and was a wrestler. The Eagles finished 2013 16-40 overall and 10-20 in Ohio Valley Conference action. Humphreys is the son of Elyse and Zack Humphreys of Dickson.
