Dickson County High School’s Payton Grove has been named to the All-Midstate Softball Team while Lady Cougar Makray Odom earned second-team honors following a runner-up finish in the TSSAA state tournament. Grove earned first-team honors as an infielder for her sophomore season, during which she hit .414 with three homeruns, 39 RBI, scored 43 runs and stole 22 bases in 23 attempts. Odom was named to the All-Midstate second team as an outfielder following her freshman season. Smyrna pitcher Makenzie Prince was named the Midstate Player of the Year. Prince pitched the Lady Bulldogs to a pair of wins over Dickson County in the Class AAA tournament to claim the school’s first title. Also named from District 10-AAA is Clarksville pitcher Heather Norris, who led the Lady Wildcats to a third-place finish in the state tournament. Ravenwood outfielder Haley Barnette and Franklin catcher Libby Sugg earned All-Midstate honors from District 11-AAA, which will include Dickson County next season.
