Dickson County High School took another big step toward claiming the top spot in next week’s District 10 tournament with a pair of victories at Northwest Tuesday night. After breaking the school’s career scoring record at Waverly Saturday, Cougar senior Jequan Lewis poured in 43 points in a 90-59 rout of the Vikings. Dickson County built an 11-point edge at intermission and pulled away in the second half to improve to 14-1 in the district and secure at least a tie for first place with one game remaining. A win over Northeast Friday will lock up the top seed in the tournament. The Lady Cougars powered their way to a 68-34 blitzing of Northwest and at 14-1 remain in a battle with Rossview for the top seed. DCHS built a 22-point led in the first half and cruised to the win. Lea Lea Carter led the way with 15 points while Payton Grove added 14. Dickson County hosts Northeast Friday to close out the regular season. The District 10-AAA Tournament starts Feb. 14 with first-round games at higher seeds then the semifinals and finals at Kenwood.
