Deputy placed on leave following assault indictment for off-duty incident

A Dickson County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been placed on leave after being indicted for assault following an off-duty incident. Deputy Kenneth Brown, age 48, of Dickson, was placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the case. Brown was indicted last month on a charge of misdemeanor assault following a February incident at a residence in Charlotte while he was off duty, according to a statement from the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office. The statement says the allegations were turned over to the District Attorney’s office for investigation. A patrol deputy, Brown has been with the sheriff’s office since 2004 after previously working with the Dickson Police Department. Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe said Brown has been a good deputy and he hopes the court system can resolve the matter quickly. Brown was booked at the Dickson County Jail April 19 and released on $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Dickson County Circuit Court on May 14.
