Last year Dickson County High School had the brother duo of Ben and Hunter Wolcott playing in the TSSAA Class AAA state golf tournament. This year, the brother-sister duo of Jack and Katie Story will be going after state titles. Cougar sophomore Jack Story won the boys’ title for the Region 6-AAA tournament at Old Hickory Golf Course Monday while older sister Katie won the girls’ title. Both will advance to the state tournament starting next week. For senior Katie Story, who recently committed to Belmont, it is her third trip to the state. After winning the District 11-AAA tournament last week, Katie carded a round of 71 Monday to win the region title despite dealing with a back injury. The Lady Cougars finished tied for first place with Ravenwood at 156 but missed out on the chance for the team to move on to the state tournament by losing a playoff to the Lady Raptors. In addition to Story’s 71, Samantha Cooper shot an 85 and Andie Garrett carded a 96 as the top two rounds count toward the team score. Jack Story’s round of 70 led the Cougars to a third-place finish at 312, as Brentwood claimed the title with a 300. With Ben Wolcott now playing at Mississippi, Hunter Wolcott missed out on a chance to return to the state tournament after carding an 83. Carter Turbeville shot 78, Jacob Moran had an 81 and Steven Simons shot 84 with the top four scores comprising the team total. Katie and Jack Story will compete for the Class AAA state titles starting Tuesday at the WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester.
