A controversial call on a shot at the buzzer allowed the Dickson Middle School Dragons to escape with a 26-25 victory at Rossview Monday night. The Hawks appeared to hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime, but after a brief conference the referees ruled the shooter had his feet on the arc and called the basket a two-pointer that gave the Dragons a one-point win and their second victory in a row to pull to 5-6. Jacob Murphree hit two free throws with seven seconds left to give the Dragons the margin of victory while Jay Lewis led Dickson with eight points. The Lady Dragons won their 11th in a row with a 43-25 win over Rossview. Dickson built a 22-4 advantage in the opening period and cruised to their second win of the season over the Lady Hawks. Cierra Smith led Dickson with 14 points while Emily Beard scored 13. William James Middle School’s Colonels pounded East Hickman 41-21 Monday night, but the Lady Colonels fell in overtime 27-23. Tonight, Dickson Middle School is at Whitthorne in Columbia. Dickson County High School hosts Rossview in a district matchup at 6:00 on WDKN, The One FM and wdkn.com. Creek Wood gets a visit from district rival Camden at 6:30 on rfcsports.com. Dickson County’s wrestlers are at Brentwood to face the Bruins, Cane Ridge and Father Ryan while Creek Wood’s wrestlers host Montgomery Central.
