The glow from Dickson County’s first district doubleheader sweep on Friday didn’t last long as Franklin came into the Cougar Den and took a pair of victories Tuesday night. The Lady Rebels held on to second place in District 11-AA by holding off the Lady Cougars 67-59 in overtime. Dickson County trailed by seven at intermission and six heading into the fourth period before forging a rally to tie the game 58-58 at the end of regulation. But the Lady Cougars managed only a free throw in overtime as Franklin scored nine points to take the win. Lea Lea Carter led Dickson County with 20 points, Lainey Reed scored 14 including four three-pointers and Payton Grove added 11, but Emily Beard was held to just one field goal and four points. The Cougars missed a chance to climb out of the District 11-AAA basement with a 49-37 loss to the Rebels. Dickson County had broken the ice with its first district win of the season over Centennial Friday but remains mired in last place at 1-7 while Franklin evened its district record at 4-4. It gets even tougher for Dickson County Friday with a trip to Brentwood, where both the Bruins and Lady Bruins are undefeated and in first place in the district. DCHS will make up a previously postponed non-district game against West Creek on Saturday.
