A funeral service for 16-year-old Andrew Morton of Dickson is set for 4 pm Tuesday at Dickson First Assembly. Mr. Morton died Thursday when his pickup truck collided with a tractor trailer on Highway 46. An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Morton also loved baseball and was a catcher on the Dickson County High School Cougar junior varsity team. Visitation with the family will be 2-8 pm Monday at Taylor Funeral Home and 2 pm until the service Tuesday at Dickson First Assembly on Highway 70 West. Burial will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his father, Marvin Morton; mother and step-father, Becky and Tommy Bear; brothers, Joshua Henry Morton and Jacob Thomas Bear; sisters, Anna Grace Bear and Haylee Nicole Bear; grandparents, Judy Morton, Judith and Andy Sandusky and Jimmy Hampton, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A fund to assist the family has been set up at TriStar Bank. For those desiring, memorials can be made to the Dickson County High School baseball program. Mr. Morton was on his way to mow a yard in his summer business when his truck smashed into the trailer of a semi that was turning onto Livestock Road off Highway 46 Thursday morning. The semi driver, 31-year-old Daniel T. Maupin of Pikeville, Tenn., was not injured in the wreck but was issued a citation for failure to yield. The accident remains under investigation.
