A funeral service for former Charlotte Postmistress Hybernia Corlew McMillan will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Charlotte Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. McMillan died Friday at the age of 99. A Charlotte High School graduate, Mrs. McMillan worked with the United States Postal Service for 40 years, including 25 years as postmistress at the Charlotte Post Office on the historic Courthouse Square, retiring in 1986 to spend time with her only grandchild. Prior to the postal service, she taught in the Dickson County school system for five years and worked at the Belle Meade Country Club in Nashville. She married Joseph A. McMillan Jr. in 1941, prior to his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A lifelong member of the Charlotte Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Mrs. McMillan also was active in the Dickson County Historical Society, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, National League of Postmasters, the American Legion Auxiliary and Dickson County Library Board. She is survived by son Charles McMillan and his wife Susan, grandson Charles Stuart McMillan and many nieces and nephews.
