Funeral services for former Dickson County Road Superintendent Jasper McEwen will be held Tuesday afternoon. McEwen died Saturday at the age of 74 following a brief illness. A Cheatham County native and 1958 graduate of Dickson High School, McEwen spent most of his professional career working in road construction before being elected to four terms as Dickson County’s road superintendent. McEwen worked with APAC Paving, Sessions Paving and R.C. Derryberry Paving in Middle Tennessee before winning election as road superintendent in 1994. After 16 years in office he lost his bid for re-election in 2010 to current Superintendent Jerry Burgess. McEwen was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the VFW. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 468 where he was a Shriner and Scottish Rite Mason. Visitation will be 2-8 pm today and 10 am until service time Tuesday. The funeral for McEwen will be at 2 pm Tuesday at Taylor Funeral Home with burial in Dickson County Memorial Gardens. A Masonic Service will be at 8:00 tonight. McEwen is survived by his wife of 46 years Diane, who also served as his secretary; daughter Sandy, granddaughter Maria, brother Bud McEwen and sisters Mary England and Patricia Wade.
