Gaslight Dinner Theatre opens season with ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ on Valentine’s Day

The cast of ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ is (left to right) Bryan J. Wlas, Hannah McGinley, Tawny Frey, Nathan W. Brown and Michelle Valenti.

The Renaissance Center’s Gaslight Dinner Theatre opens its 2013 season on Valentine’s Day with Some Enchanted Evening: The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The musical revue features the music of the legendary song-writing duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein through March 16 with shows Fridays and Saturday and matinees on Thursdays and Fridays. Michelle Valenti, Hannah McGinley, Tawny Frey, Bryan J. Wlas and Nathan W. Brown perform legendary songs from Broadway and the movies like Hello Young Lovers (from The King and I), Shall We Dance? (The King and I), If I Loved You (Carousel), I’m in Love with a Wonderful Guy (South Pacific), People Will Say We’re in Love (Oklahoma), Climb Every Mountain (The Sound of Music), and, of course, Some Enchanted Evening (South Pacific). The show marks Frey’s return to The Renaissance Center where she began performing in community theatre productions, then in professional shows before spending the last two seasons as a performer at Dollywood. Wlas is the center’s resident choreographer and Brown its resident music director. Matinees begin with a noon lunch buffet and evening performances have a dinner buffet at 6:30.
