Dickson County’s two high schools will hold graduations for the Class of 2013 Thursday and Friday. Creek Wood High School’s 12th commencement has been switched from its traditional Saturday morning to 7 pm Thursday in Red Hawk Stadium. Dickson County High School’s 41st commencement will be at 7:30 pm Friday in Dickson County Stadium. Director of Schools Dr. Danny Weeks will hand out diploma covers to graduating seniors for the first time since taking over the job last June. Creek Wood’s commencement will feature addresses by Blue Medalist and Salutatorian Mason Cordell, Red Medalist Sidney Elston, Grey Medalist Clark Bilbrey and Valedictorian Cody Phillips. Dickson County’s commencement will feature addresses by Gold Medalist and Valedictorian Mary Beth Yancey, Silver Medalist Emily Knox, Bronze Medalist Marissa Evans and Salutatorian Grace Gilliland. Ed Littleton will preside over his final graduation as principal of DCHS. Both schools have scheduled graduation practice for 9 am Thursday and have alternative times for Saturday and Sunday in the event of rain. If a commencement exercise begins and is stopped by rain, it will not be rescheduled. The school year ends next Wednesday for underclassmen.
