Following the announcement that Dickson Academy will close its doors at the end of the current school year, Greater Things Christian Academy has announced it is expanding enrollment for its first year to include middle school grades. Greater Things Christian Academy is a new private school that will be opening this fall at Greater Things Baptist Church on White Bluff Road in Burns. It was originally announced as enrolling for elementary school grades plus pre-K programs for 3- and 4-year-olds, but last week announced it would be expanding to include grades 6-8 for the 2013-14 school year. Dickson Academy opened for middle school grades in 2010 and was adding a high school grade each year until its board of directors decided to close the school at the end of this month. Dickson Academy had been planning to move from Greater Things Baptist Church to the campus of Dickson First Assembly before deciding to close. The deadline to enroll for middle school grades at Greater Things is May 31 and the school is waiving the $125 application fee for all students who apply by May 22. The new private school will host several open house events May 16-18 during which model classrooms for preschool and elementary grades will be displayed and tours of the campus will be offered. Greater Things Pastor Chris Harris will be headmaster of the new school, which pledges to offer a distinctively Christian, academically excellent, biblically integrated education.
