Hartsville man dead, another injured in Tuesday night shooting at local hotel

Dickson police continue to search for suspects following a Tuesday night shooting at a local hotel that left one person dead and his cousin injured. A statement from the Dickson Police Department confirms that 29-year-old Matthew Draper of Hartsville is dead following the shooting around 11:20 pm Tuesday at the Holiday Inn Express off Highway 46 near Interstate 40. A second victim, 23-year-old Cody Jackson, also of Hartsville, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is reported to be in stable condition. According to reports, Jackson drove himself and Draper to Horizon Medical Center following the shooting in the hotel parking lot. The police statement says the suspected shooter had left the scene prior to the arrival of officers and a description of a vehicle has been distributed to law enforcement agencies throughout the region. The statement says there are persons of interest wanted by police at this time and investigators are actively following several leads. Police have not released any more details of the incident.
