Hayes elected to second term as mayor; Clark, Murrell win open council seats

White Bluff Mayor Linda Hayes won re-election to a second four-year term Tuesday. Hayes topped former Mayor Vance Smith 590-482. While she came up short in her bid for the state House of Representatives, Hayes said she is grateful to the citizens of White Bluff and wants to make the proposed new civic center a priority of her next term. Dan Clark and Stephanie Murrell were elected to the two open seats on the five-member town council. Clark earned 486 votes while Murrell received 369 to fill the seats vacated by Allen Johnson and Dale Whitfield. Darrel Frizsell came in third with 246 votes followed by Ellen Marsh at 238 and Bobbye Phillips with 176. A total for write-in candidate Martha Beth Harding was not available. The White Bluff Town Council meets at 7 pm Tuesday after postponing its meeting a week due to the election.
