In its first game as a new member of District 11-AA, Hickman County overpowered Creek Wood 27-0 Friday in Charlotte. The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 while the Red Hawks fell to 1-2. Cole Patton rushed for 139 yards including a 22-yard score. Quarterback Zack Roberts threw for 86 yards, including a 49-yard scoring connection with Logan Hill, and rushed for a 27-yard score as the Bulldogs built a 20-0 lead by halftime. Creek Wood looked to rally after intermission, forcing a Bulldog turnover and driving to the four-yard line before getting stopped on a fourth and one. Hickman County’s defense concentrated on stopping Matt Jones, who was held to 55 yards on the ground, forcing quarterback Ian Spence to the air where he connected on 12 of 17 passes for 98 yards. But turnovers proved costly as the Red Hawks dropped their second in a row. Creek Wood faces another new member of District 11 this week when it travels to 3-0 Fairview for a Friday night contest. The Yellow Jackets have already crushed district opponents Camden 19-7 and Stewart County 49-12, while beating Cheatham County 41-12 in the season opener. Dickson County hosts the Houston Mustangs from Germantown Friday. Houston is 3-0 with wins over Cordova (15-13), Bolton (30-7) and Wooddale (35-18), while the Cougars are 0-3.
