Humane society’s 4th annual Spay-ghetti Dinner fund-raiser is Saturday at FUMC

The Humane Society of Dickson County’s 4th annual Spay-ghetti Dinner is set for Saturday in the Fellowship Hall of Dickson First United Methodist Church on North Main Street. Tickets for the 5:30 pm dinner are $5 and include a meal of spaghetti, salad, bread and beverage. Desserts will be available for an additional donation. There also will be cake walks for an additional donation. The annual dinner kicks off National Spay/Neuter Awareness Month in February, which leads up to World Spay Day on Feb. 26. All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Dickson County, which operates a limited intake, no-kill shelter on Eno Road. The humane society’s board of directors has been working on plans to find a new shelter location and there reportedly is a corporate benefactor considering donating a new site and building. Last month the board hired Billy Higgins of Fairview as its first full-time shelter director in five years. For more information on Saturday’s Spay-ghetti Dinner, call the shelter at 446-PETS (7387). The shelter is open 10 am-4 pm Wednesday through Saturday.
