With the Christmas season approaching, Dickson County law enforcement is reporting an increase in reports of home burglaries. A Hurricane Mills man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with numerous burglaries in Humphreys County and two burglaries in Dickson County. A homeowner on Yellow Creek Road reported he returned home around 6 pm Tuesday and discovered a black Jeep in his driveway and spotted a male subject inside his home. The homeowner attempted to block the suspect’s vehicle but the suspect fled after first hitting the homeowner’s car. The homeowner discovered medication and loose change missing. Shortly before 9:30 pm Tuesday another burglary was reported on Lucas Lane, in which a flat screen television and shotgun were reported stolen. While officers were investigating that report, an off-duty officer spotted a vehicle matching the description from the earlier burglary on Highway 70 West. Officers in Humphreys County were able to stop the Jeep and arrested Daniel Lee Rumsey, age 36. A statement from the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office says property from both Dickson County burglaries was found inside Rumsey’s vehicle. Rumsey is being held in the Humphreys County Jail on burglary charges and warrants for aggravated burglary and theft in Dickson County have been issued.
