Drivers heading into Nashville this weekend will encounter a lane closure on Interstate 40 East in Cheatham County. From 8 pm Friday until 6 am Monday, I-40 will be reduced to one lane between mile markers 185 and 186 while the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s contract crews will be making repairs to the Beech Hill Road bridge over the interstate. Crews will be working to straighten bridge beams that were damaged by an oversized vehicle. The closure will begin with the right lane on the eastbound side then move on to the left lane as the repairs progress. One lane of I-40 will remain open at all times and all lanes on Beech Hill Road will be open. There will be a reduction in speed limit during the repair project and law enforcement will be monitoring traffic. The work is weather-dependent and should inclement weather or other circumstances prevent the work from being done as scheduled it will be rescheduled. TDOT asks drivers to be aware of workers in the area over the weekend.
