Impersonator Cindy Moore to serve as emcee for Celebration on Minnie’s 100th birthday

Cindy Moore, the performer who trained with Sarah Cannon to become a Minnie Pearl impersonator, will be the mistress of ceremonies at Thursday’s Minnie’s 100th Life Celebration at the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum and Holland Park. The event sponsored by the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center is to celebrate cancer survivors and remember those who battled the disease and lost and is being held on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sarah Colley Cannon, who became known to the world as Minnie Pearl. The free event is 4-8 pm Thursday at the museum and adjacent Holland Park and features guest speakers, music performances, two large cards for survivors and family members to sign and a birthday celebration at 6 pm. Moore met Cannon while performing at the Opryland theme park in 1979 and the comedienne took her under her wing and trained her to carry on her memory. Since Cannon’s death in 1996, Moore has performed her Tribute to Minnie all over the world. She returns to the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum Thursday to celebrate the country icon’s 100th birthday. Also performing Thursday are Jamie Teachenor, Justin Adams and Professor and the Bull. For more information on Thursday’s Life Celebration, call the museum at 446-0500.
