Creek Wood High School’s playoff hopes took a big hit Friday night in a 28-21 overtime loss to Montgomery Central. The Indians got a touchdown pass in their first overtime possession then sealed the win with an interception. The Red Hawks fall to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in District 11-AA, while the Indians jumped ahead in the standings at 3-3 in the district and 3-5 overall. Creek Wood quarterback Ian Spence had two rushing touchdowns on the night. His two-yard score in the second period gave the Red Hawks a 7-6 lead at intermission following two Austin Neely field goals for Central. Following a 66-yard touchdown run for the Indians, Spence scored from 11 yards out to put Creek Wood back on top 14-12. Creek Wood took its final lead at 21-18 with 1:18 left in the game on a 12-yard run by Ashton Ferguson, but Central managed to get back down the field and Neely booted a 33-yard field goal with 12 seconds left to tie the game and force overtime. Montgomery Central got a touchdown pass on the initial overtime possession then Dequimothy Northington picked off a pass to close out the win for Montgomery Central. Creek Wood looks to get back on track with a trip to East Hickman on Friday.
