Dickson County investigators continue to look into the circumstances that led to a Monday afternoon shooting at a home in the Claylick area near White Bluff. According to a statement released Wednesday by the sheriff’s office, William Leroy Cathey, age 35, has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon following the shooting of 49-year-old William Darrell Cathey at a home in the 100 block of Lincoln Road. The statement says the two men are not related. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to both legs and was flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The report says deputies and White Bluff Police Chief Mike Holman responded to a call about a disturbance between a landlord and tenant around 2:30 Monday afternoon and found both men at the scene. “There was a confrontation between the men that resulted in the victim being shot. Details of the shooting are still under investigation,” the statement says. William Leroy Cathey is being held in the Dickson County Jail on $80,000 bond with an appearance scheduled for April 19 in Dickson County General Sessions Court. The statement says additional charges could result from the investigation.
