Dickson County High School sophomore Jack Story shot an even-par 72 in Wednesday’s second and final round of the TSSAA Class AAA state golf tournament in Manchester and finished tied for 15th. In his first trip to the state tournament, Story shot 78 in Tuesday’s first round and finished the tournament at six over par 150, eight strokes behind the winner. Hendersonville’s Noah Trenkler won the boys’ state title on the second hole of a playoff after finishing tied at 2 under with Smyrna’s Zach Haynes at the WillowBrook Golf Course. First-round leader Matt Johnson of Coffee County faded with a 79 Wednesday to finish in 10th. The Commandos won their third team title in four years with a total score of 595, three strokes ahead of Farragut. Hendersonville also won team titles in 2010 and 11 and finished fourth last year. Lady Cougar senior Katie Story was forced to withdraw from the tournament Tuesday due to a back injury. Brighton freshman Aubree Jones won the girls’ title with a two-day total of 148, one stroke ahead of Samantha Griffith of Ooltewah. Science Hill ran away with the team championship with a score of 309, seven better than runner up Rossview.
