Lady Cougars avenge losses by beating Rossview for district volleyball crown

After having lost twice to Rossview during the regular season, the Dickson County High School Lady Cougars got their revenge Saturday by beating the Lady Hawks for the District 10-AAA volleyball tournament title. Dickson County survived a five-set showdown at Rossview to earn the crown and the right to host a Region 5 tournament game next week. DCHS advanced to the district title game by beating West Creek and Rossview topped Clarksville in Saturday morning’s semifinals to set up the match between the district’s top two seeds. Undefeated in the district, Rossview took the opening set 25-19 before the Lady Cougars battled back to win the next two 25-13 and 25-23. Rossview evened the match with a 25-16 fourth set before the Lady Cougars clinched the title 15-11 in the fifth set. Taylor Martin, Ashton Perez and Ansley Stringfield were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Lady Cougars will host a Region 5-AAA Tournament first-round game Oct. 16.
