It’s a championship doubleheader tonight on the RFC Sports Network as the Dickson County Lady Cougars and Creek Wood Red Hawks battle for titles. The Lady Cougars face top-seeded Brentwood for the District 11-AAA crown at 6 pm at Independence High School in Thompson’s Station. Dickson County and the Lady Bruins split their regular season series, DCHS winning at Brentwood by four and the Lady Bruins winning at Dickson by two. Brentwood’s only other loss this season was by one point to Farragut in a holiday tournament. Dickson County finished 19-7 and third in the district, upsetting second-seeded Franklin in the tournament semifinals. Creek Wood takes its third shot at Waverly at 7:30 tonight on the Tigers’ home court. Waverly swept both regular season meetings by five and 21 points, holding Creek Wood to its second-lowest point total of the season in a 75-54 game Jan. 21 in Charlotte, one of only four times this season the Red Hawks scored under 60 points. That marks Creek Wood’s only loss since the first of the year as the Red Hawks have gone 14-1 in 2014, including tournament wins over Hickman County and Camden. Waverly is ranked ninth in Class AA with a 26-2 record with losses to East Nashville and Dickson County. The RFC Sports Network tips off a championship doubleheader at 5:45 with pregame coverage from Independence for Dickson County and Brentwood, then follows with Creek Wood at Waverly to crown the district winners. Dickson County will host Hillsboro or Cane Ridge Friday at 7 pm to open the girls’ region tournament. Creek Wood will host Page or Giles County at 7 pm Saturday in the region tournament.
