Lady Cougars hand Rossview first district loss, take over first place in standings

Dickson County High School’s Lady Cougars avenged their only district loss of the season and took over first place with a 54-32 win at Rossview Tuesday night. The Lady Cougars raced out to a 24-point lead at intermission and handed the Lady Hawks their first District 10 defeat. With a 12-1 district record, the Lady Cougars take over first place with a half-game lead over 11-1 Rossview. Lea Lea Carter led Dickson County with 17 points and Megan Billingsby added 12. The Cougars remained a half game ahead of Kenwood by beating Rossview 60-50. Ahead by only one point at intermission, the Cougars put together a 16-2 run in the third period to build enough cushion to hold off a late Hawks rally. Jequan Lewis led DCHS with 26 points. The Cougars improve to 12-1 in District 10, a half game ahead of Kenwood, which improved to 11-1 by avenging its only district loss with a 73-37 rout of West Creek Tuesday. Kenwood visits Dickson County Friday in a battle for first place.
